How the RGB to RAL converter works
RAL Classic is a fixed set of 214 standardized colors, so any RGB value almost never maps to an exact RAL code — there is only a nearest one. This tool converts your color into the perceptual CIE-Lab space and measures the Delta-E (ΔE) distance to every RAL Classic color, then ranks the closest matches. A ΔE under 2 is a near-exact match; under 5 is very close and usually indistinguishable on a wall.
From screen color to real paint
Screen RGB values are an approximation of how a RAL pigment looks under neutral light. For a critical match — facade, furniture, machinery — always confirm the suggested code against a physical RAL fan deck. To match a color you photographed rather than typed, use the photo-to-RAL tool or the RAL Picker app, which samples real pixels and compensates for lighting.
